Has anyone successfully re-registered after their server crash. I'm trying and it only allows the year of your birthday but refuses your signup asking for date of birth. Am I just stuck on stupid or is there something wrong with that site?

I managed to wade thru the mess and re-register with a different username and e-mail.

I've submitted a request three times. Never heard back yay or nay from the admin. Maybe I'll try a new user name.

I'll contact the Admin and have him check into this thread.

Just sent him an email. Hopefully he chimes in soon.

The issue I have is that it keeps rejecting my bio saying it needs my date of birth, but only allows a field for the year.

My SiL tried to join another forum recently and got the same results. Asked for birthday but no field for it.

What browser are you using? EI, Chrome, Firefox? I use Chrome and It has no issues. I just created a temp account and it did ask me for the year fist.. once I selected it I was able to choose the month.. then the date. maybe try to clear your browser cache and java cache also. Let me know how that works out for you.

I completed the registration again and submitted. I just get returned to the log in page. I thought I would get the page that says "Must be approved by admin". This was with a new email and user name from the one that got lost.

This might help.

The first time you try to register, it will create a field for birth month and day. but if for some reason, it doesn't accept the registration on the first attempt, then for subsequent attempts, only the year field is available.

Got it, thanks..
I was just trying to give you some info that might help you find the glitch in the registration screen..

Alex, I have approved your account 2x and you never made a single post in the 10 days grace I gave you both times. I have rejected your account another 4 times after that and you have signed up again today. Should I approve it?

I only ask, as I run this on my own personal server from my home. So, I try to limit the bandwidth it consumes and the amount of users. I found the easiest way to do this was to ban the lurkers. at one point I had over 1500 users with about 950 hitting the server every day multiple times a day (people looking for spring spawn info). Out of those, 950 only 15 actually contributed anything in a months time. Yes, I track and monitor everything! Me and the other 2 admins decided to clean up the users and ended up getting it down to about 65 that ever created a post.

I don't think one little post is too much to ask within a 5 day period to have the privileges of keeping an account on the forum. If you fish and care about Granger lake then you understand. I made to site for people to get to know each other, find fishing buddies, and be able to help each other out when on the lake with issues. we hang out outside of the lake even do other things also. We even try to have a lake clean-up ever year with COE approval to give back.

I make no money off it even though I could and run it out of the goodness of my heart. It has no ads on it and have been offered a nice buyout on it a couple of times.

Dawg is right.

There was another thread here on the TFF talking about how it was different back in the day. I love both forums and visit each at least twice a day. I try to contribute what I can and don't ask for too much.

There are too many that just ask and ask and that is not the way to communicate. I've seen newbies come on here and ask what lake, what bait, what depth, what presentation, what cove, what point, what brush pile, what waypoint, I mean come on!

I don't mind helping people out when I can but if you can't even make one post to tell us a little about yourself then you are a taker, not a giver. There are already enough takers in this country.

Granted, a large percentage of lakes in Texas are up north and a large percentage of TFFers are too and I enjoy interacting with you all but I'll admit I am hesitant to say a lot about my Granger Lake being a pretty good crappie, catfish, and white bass lake. Want an example? I went there one time to a certain area that get tons of fishing pressure at certain times of the year and saw more cars parked there than actual active members on the Granger Gang website. Literally dozens of cars parked on both sides of the road. You think I want to tell more people about it?

Come on down to Granger. Let's go fishing sometime. It's a nice little lake with some decent fishing and frequented with people not part of the high stress metromess. Join the Granger Gang. It's a small website dedicated mostly to one lake and the local area. We'd like to have you. Just be a part of our community.

You're doing a great job at the site and on the lake Dawg. Keep it up.
