I noticed this the other day after fishing. This is right above the prop. The motor seems to be running fine and not making any noises but something definitely come out of this hole and did a little damage. Does anyone know what came out of here and what it's for and if it will cause any problems with the lower unit if I run it like this

Carrier bolt backed out prop caught it and broke a piece of the housing. At least get the correct bolt to put back in and use locktite on it.

You need to replace the carrier retainer and bolt: Number 70, 71, 72 here: http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha...0250/parts.html
