This is a repeat but might help someone that missed it. When building a brush pile a big pile is normally better and lasts longer.









I prefer fresh willow when I can get it. Rather than tie a bunch of branches together I like to find a whole tree or big limb in one piece so it can't be scattered with an anchor. Might get moved a little but will still be in one piece. Use more weight than you think you need, current is relentless and as the water gets low the wind and wave action also effects your pile. More weight will also dig the pile into the botton and hold it in place better.

Obviously these were cut on private property. Rather than trying to load whole trees in boat I tie concrete blocks to tree on the shore and drag the pile out to proper depth and let it go. Toss a marker on it as it sinks so you can mark it accurately on your GPS.

three blocks for a 6" diameter tree trunk should work. That's about as big as we can handle.
