Called around for a last minute reservation on Caddo next weekend. Taking my wife next Friday & Saturday night. Little fishing and a lot of riding around. Anyone stay at Shady Glade? Opinions? Thanks, 361v

It's called Shady Glade... smile

Good ramp. Restaurant is good for breakfast and lunch. Rooms are nice and clean. By no means the Four seasons, but decent place to spend the night and your wife won't complain to bad. Couple of decent catfish places to eat on the river. Bunch of guys from McKinney Bass Club are out there this weekend. I know from the pictures they've been posting on FB that they are catching fish.

Also, you're about 20 miles from Jefferson. Your wife can shop or browse the antique shops and there's a couple of decent places to eat downtown.

You'll have a great time and IMO it's one of the best kept fishing secrets in Texas.

TX rigged Blk/blue, junebug, watermelon red. Probably a good frog or top water bite too. Pitch both side of the cypress tress and move along.

Best of luck!

Glade! Got it. Thanks. Just reserved one of their little cabins. One more question: Is Jefferson too far by boat up Big Cypress?

The hotel has very nice rooms. The restaurant has really good food, especially the cheeseburgers. The only complaint I have had in the past is that the restaurant wasn't opening early enough. They have also not been open everyday. They may have changed though.

It is roughly 21 miles from the River Bend Restaurant to Jefferson via Big Cypress Bayou. I have personally not navigated the entire trip. It will be a winding back and forth journey for sure.

Make sure you get a Lake Caddo map from Wal-Mart or the little store near the State Park. The map will show you all of the numbered "highways" on the lake.

Be safe,

Be sure to eat at Big Pine Lodge. It's not far from the state park.

The restaurant at shady glade is quite good and the catfish dinner is great.

Jefferson is a short drive and the BBQ place there is awesome. Called Riverport BBQ. I would think that is a pretty long boat ride.

Have fun. Check out the weevil nursery at shady glade and donate to the cause if you can.
