Jitterbug and a Heddon Chuggar Jr. Our stock tank was full of 3-4 pound bass and I hammered them daily as a kid when the weather was warm. A Little George comes to mind as well.

No doubt the H&H would have to be it. I grew up in a small town and the hardware store up on the square carried them and a few other basics. The H&H has caught a bunch of bass.

If it were perch I was going after it would be a can or corn and a bobber.

Catfish, nothing but shrimp.

If it ain't yours don't mess with it!

White spinnerbait with a single copper Colorado blade burned right under the surface.

Mann's Augertail worm T rigged with a lead sinker pegged with a toothpick.

For crappie, a yellow Beetle Spin and then switched to Mr. Twister when that came out.

Everything on Stren monofilament.

Nick Creme
The lure that had the biggest impact on American fishing started in the late 1940s in a basement in Akron Ohio. That's where Nick and Cosma Creme cooked up the perfect combination of vinyl, oils and pigments to produce a molded worm that not only looked and felt soft and alive, but also stayed that way when exposed to air over time. 1949 would be the official birth year of the now famous Creme worm.

I guess the first bass lure I ever tied on was a prerigged Creme worm like this purple with white spots........The very first bass I ever hooked up too was on one of these and wouldn't you know it, it was a trophy bass and it stripped the gears out of my Zebco reel and I lost it, guess it was the only fish I ever hooked on one of these. I was probably about 7 or 8 years old but that moment cemented me into this sport.
I didn't even know they still made these. I'd still like to try and boat a fish with one of these just to say I did it.....
