Honestly...
I don't know, and, I don't have anything to do with the finances of the Club.

Although, the Opens, as well as the monthly Tournaments are somewhat a fund raiser for the Club.
We are the ONLY Bass Club in Texas that Donates Annually, and, have for MANY Years to the TEXAS Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens!!!
There is a IRVING BASS CLUB Plaque on the wall in the Entrance of the Fisheries Center on Display for everybody to see...We are the ONLY Bass Club there.
We also Donate yearly to Charities and Charitable Organizations in Irving yearly. The Lake Fork Sportsman Association ( Live Release Boat ) there to Release all the Bass Weighed...We Donate to them Annually as well to Help with their expenses, that Don't come Free to Us or anybody.
The Club actually gets a SMALL percentage for the Club from our Opens.

I can Assure You...Bass Champs, Big Bass Splash and others make a KILLING off of the Bass Anglers on their Tournaments! All the Trucks / Boats / Etc. that they give away are ALL Donated to them...they Don't Pay for Any of it!
I'm the T/Director, and Donations Coordinator for the Club...I contact Over 100 Company's asking for Donations, and, What I get Donated is given away in the form of Goodies at Registration as well as Door Prizes after the Tournament.
We give away Rods, Baits, Certificates for Lodging and Restaurants at the Lake.
It's a Hell of Alot of Work from Me...and, the rest of the Board of Dir. and Members to put these Tournaments on for the Bass Anglers for Over 37 Years.
I've been in the Club for 25...T/Dir. for the last 17 yrs now.

I / We Hope to see Alot of You fellow TFF'ers there...as well as other Bass Anglers there to Compete in our BIG 75th Open Tournament 10 / 10 / 2015.

I Hope this Answers Your Question...and Any others wondering about our Pay back percentages.

Thanks for Your getting back to Me...
IF I can Help anybody else, or, answer Any Questions...
Contact Me in the Many ways Ya'all have to reach Me.

Thanks,
Bass Wishes,
Roger / Nitro Man

The last Irving bass club open tournament at Fork that I fished the pay back was around 50 percent. Not very good in my opinion. All these others that are making a killing at least they have a guaranteed pay back that is reasonable.
a couple of years ago 4th place paid 168.00. They had at least 97 people fish. U do the math.

We base our paybacks by how many entries we have...
We are a BASS CLUB...Not a Business that is backed by Big Companies / Corporations like these other ones are. We DO Guarantee $1,500 for 1st Place based on 200 entries. No more than We charge...to get the pay backs Up, need more entries. Don't take a Rocket Scientist to figure that out!

You Must be thinking of someone else's Tournament...We have Never had just 97 entries in our Opens. Our Entry's are only $45.00 Compared to $150 - $300.
IF We Charged more like they do, paybacks would be higher! YOU Do the Math...

Just for grins...Take ANY of the Bass Champs, Sealy or Any of the Bigger ones, Take how many Entries, How mush they took IN vs.Payouts...THEY make a Killing!!!
Those Boats, Trucks and Bigger things given as Prizes...ALL are DONATED to them.

I Know the other ones Don't Donate to the TEXAS FRESHWATER FISHERIES Annually like We Do...and, Have for YEARS...as well as other Charities We donate to!!!

Thanks!

This is the best way to ask these questions and the original question of the payback percentage is a legitimate question.
As a TD you should be able to tell folks what they can expect for the entry fee. The expectation that you would keep a percentage for your club and for your charities is understood, but also since this is an "OPEN" the folks that will come fish do not have a vested interest in your club and the % you would keep for the club.
So the charity part & first place is understood, but what can the other fishermen expect for their part after their charitable donation and a donation to "your" club ?
as for the other tournaments you mentioned,,,,,,they are businesses, but at least they publicize their paybacks. Even the local HS Bass Team fundraisers publicize their paybacks.
Full disclosure & transparency is the new norm.

??????

Nutman,
Honestly...I DON'T Know, As I Stated!!!
I'm Not the Treasurer or the President...I'm the T/Director.
We DO Publicize the Entry Fees and Paybacks...*See the Tourn. Flyer off our Web-Site. There is Nothing Hidden anywhere...As You stated about disclosure, etc..
You need to Do Research into something before spouting off about something.
As I Stated...We are a Local BASS CLUB, Not: Bass Champs, Sealy, BLT, Etc...
Which are Big Businesses and make a Killing off of YOU, The Comp. Anglers!
That's one Reasons WHY I Don't enter those Tournaments.

Also, As I stated...take ANY of the Big ones, Find out HOW many Entries, the Entry Fee. Then Deduct WHAT They pay Back vs. What they took In...It WILL Shock Ya to find out! I figured One of them last year in one of the Many they hold yearly...Figured just What they made / kept on ONE Tourn...it was $17,000 !!!

We are the ONLY Ones that Donate and SUPPORT the TEXAS FRESHWATER FISHERIES as We have for Years!!! Can ANY of the "Others" Say that? That's just ONE of the Charities We Donate to...The money taken In Isn't just a donation to the Club!

Thanks for Ya'all's reply's...See Ya at the Tournament!!!

See,,,,,, you did know where to tell people to look for the paybacks and percentage of payouts.
Just as stated before,,,,, 50%,,,, $4500 for 10 places with 200 entries.
Entry fees = $9,000
so this is basically a charity / fundraiser event,,,,, no problem. Those that like to fish those will be there.
Your flyer says it all.

as for the other guys,,,,,they are running a business. $17,000 per tournament just barely pays for their overhead and expenses. But one thing is for sure, the prizes and payouts they provide from Sponsors is worth way more than $17,000 in cash.
A shot at $20,000 first place or a new boat-mtr-truck are well worth the entry fee.

I'm sure your club is a great help to the charities it sponsors and the Texas Freshwater Fisheries right here in my home town of Athens does appreciate the donations. Keep up the good work.

Nutman,

Thanks for Your reply Sir...
Yes, the others have Expenses...We do too putting on a Open Tournament Isn't Cheap! I Personally Work for 2 Months ( With NO Pay...) on contacting Sponsors about Donations that We give away to the Anglers at Registration and for Door Prizes. It's like Kids at Christmas, Takes @ 2 months to get things together...and, it's ALL Gone in @ 30 min! LOL
The Goodies We Give Away is worth more than the $45 Entry in the Tournament!

Hope We see Ya there at the Tournament Sir!

I Hope that You and ALL the TFF'ers have a Great / Fun n Safe L/Day Weekend!
