This is probably a very vague question but i was just pondering my thoughts. I fish the North jetty about five times a year out at the end in the 45-50' water but have never ventured any further really. If i go another 5-10 miles from the end, how deep are we talking? Are the sharks and reds just as active that far out also?

Which jetty are you talking about? Galveston? Port Aransas?

Well, the water depth doesn't really get significantly deeper until you get 30+ miles out. You can certainly find fish 5-10 miles out, but you'll probably do just as well near the jetties or nearshore wrecks.

Fish tend to relate to structure, no matter what the dept, in general. So basically it is better to be near the Jetties or other structure to be more productive.

Appreciate it guys, trip was decent. Ended up going just about 200yrds off the end of the north jetty in galveston. Had about 15 sharks total with the hammer below being the biggest. Ready for spring time already!
