My brother and I will be fishing Falcon in a few weeks, neither of us have fished it before. Would appreciate a little help with where to fish and with what. Not looking for anyone's honey hole poor anything, just some good advise. Of course gps coordinates would be great LOL.... Thanks in advance, Emmett

No reports from James in a while, out shooting the birds and I don't blame him.

Falcon is a really big place to fish. Lots of places hold fish,,,,but biting fish are another story. well worth your money if you are spending 3 days there to get a guide for one of those days.

When I started fishin there eight years ago, I just stopped by FLT and went fishing with their advice. Fishing reports the past few months has been that south is fishing better than north- so I would launch at the state park. Word has also been that fish are shallow and they have always loved rocks. Even better rocks with wood. I would go one cove north of the state park ramp and drive till you see rocky bank (won't take long) and start fishing. Keep going back into the creek till you figure em out. Just my .02. Good luck.

Catching fish won't be an issue, finding quality fish will take a little work. I might be down there this weekend I've been meaning to get down there and take James some oil. The Platinum trail will be down there on the 19th so getting anyone to talk right now might be hard.

Fishing has been good for numbers and small fish. finding big fish is going to be hard. i was there last week with guide and it was well worth it finding the fish was easy but could not find any big fish. we found them inside the creeks from 9 to 4 feet using crankbaits and plastic in the hardwoods.

chasin bass has some practical advice there. But if you don't mind spending the money hiring someone like Jim Edwards would no doubt increase your odds, plus he's a lot of fun to fish with.
Haven't fished there in a while but cover/bottom composition is almost always critical down. Softer bottoms are not good, even when fishing bushes and trees. And softer is relative as you won't find many muddy bottoms, But there are plenty of rock hard places and those will often hold fish.

I go to Falcon for a week once a year and always get a guide for the first day. Because the lake changes so much from year to year it is well worth it to fish with a guide so the rest of the trip will not be spent searching but catching.
