Dear guys please help.
We just start kayak fishing on lake lewisville with my husband and 2 little girls (4&6 years old). We usually go to little elm park but till now we haven't got any fish yet. I am not sure if that was because there were too many people play water sport or too hot. But it seems my husband and one of the girl is losing enthusiasm...
If anyone can tell me is there good park we can go on lake lewisville for kayak- fishing I will be appreciated! Btw, we used roster tail for fishing and we are new for artificial fishing too...
Thank you

I haven't fished Lewisville in a long time, but that area around Little Elm is usually pretty good.
One thing about a rooster tail is that you are fishing a fairly limited water column that might be too shallow especially when the sun is out in full force. It sounds like you just want to catch fish. There are a ton of small fish on Lake Lewisville these days. Try crappie jigs or 2" sassy shad style baits. Try adding scent and crappie nibbles to the lures. Try lighter colored plastics with glitter.
If there are grasshoppers floating on the water or around the bank try tossing them weightless or on a small jig head around rocks or bridge columns or timber. Catching the grasshoppers can be a fun activity for the kids and blue catfish up to 5 pounds love them.
Good luck!

Try some small swim baits, different spinner baits and some worms. Also suggest yall get an earlier start. The fish often fallow the bait to deeper water after sun up and wont move shallow again till late evening or night time. Too hot & dangerous to late am-mid day on lewisville. If your casting toward the banks and cover u have to get out early especially during the hotter months. Might also consider some ponds around town. A creek or river may also have shade for yall during The day time. Kiddos lose interest fast especially if they arnt catching. Yak fishin aint for everyone. Just the way it is. Most that dont like it say its too much work (paddling) and dont feel safe (in a yak).
