Me and a buddy are fishing the SPRO frog only tournament Oct 10th. We are heading there 5 days before to learn the lake and find the best group of fish we can. This is a bucket list lake for both of us, the next 3ish weeks can't go by quick enough.

Any tips for late summer/early fall frog fishing on Guntersville? Hopefully 4 days of prefishing will help us learn the lake or an area of the lake pretty well. Any certain areas we should focus on other than the normal community holes (Goose, Seibold, etc.)? We really want to make a run at those Bama guys and would love to bring the trophy back to Texas!

We caught a bunch of good fish in Spring Creek last year right after the Classic, the bridge at the mouth is where Howell won it. It has a lot of nice grass. Probably a community hole, but there were so many fish in there that it is probably worth checking out.

One of the deals that is famous on Guntersville when frogging is to remove all of the legs on the frog and seal them up. Typically, they will load them up with rattles and other junk and then silicone the holes shut. The reason for this is they want to be able to launch that frog body as far up in the cheese as they can get it and the legs make it less aerodynamic as well as create a distraction when those fish are coming up on the body. That is why this snagproof frog is designed the way it is. It wouldnt take much to modify a spro.

Sling one of these around in practice. In my experience, it will induce a lot of bites, but they have a tough time getting it because of the size. Get the fish to show themselves without beating so many up.

Thanks Josh! I'm beyond stoked. My buddy from Midland is going with me. We've been talking about this trip for over a year. It's hard to believe it's actually happening.

Clark - we are limited to the mods we can do the frog. Thankfully, we can trim legs and add rattles (I think). I've heard one of the big reasons they trim the legs is to reduce short striking. Thanks for the info!

T54 - Thanks for the info! We will definitely check that area out! Also, already have a few King Daddy's purchased!

I am headed up there for the Oakley Big Bass tournament on October 17th and 18th. It is a bucket list lake for me too.

Good Luck KB and leave some fish for me.

I'd throw a frog... cool maybe a SPRO cheers

It doesn't always have to be thrown in the slop, just saying.

That popping frog might be the real deal. fish

Trust me, we will look outside of the obvious places. We have 4 days to figure them out!
