So it has been some time since I've gone out and caught a mess of bluegill. I've had a boat since moving to Texas and have found cat fish, whites, hybrids, crappie, but have never targeted or even found by accident the bluegill. I'd like to take my daughter out and just sit and catch some bluegill, any advice on a decent bank spot in Waco? Lake or river, doesn't really matter to me. Could also be a spot accessed by boat, that's just more hassle.

I don't fish the Waco area but you may want to try to find some community lakes or ponds in your area. Some City Parks have em. Try using Google to search for em. Also you may want to look at your area lakes to see if they have any public docks. Now is a good time to catch Bluegill before the cold weather sets in. Side Note: Right now I am catching Bluegill on the Guadalupe River holding close to docks in 12 to 15 feet of water. I am also picking some up holding under tree overhangs in 6 to 8 feet of water. Live Night Crawlers work best for me. Good luck. Let us know how you do.

Thanks, most of the parks here are along the bravos river. Probably plenty in there. I mean it's not like I'm in search of record panfish!

When I was in college we used to go past airport park to another are that was open further down. I know you can't drive in there now but you can get in there by boat. Several coves that had a ton of gills back then, but I don't know how they are now.
I'm on other forums that deal with the old turbo powered Buicks.;)

If you don't mind a short drive Navarro Mills has been good to me for for blue gill. When the crappie fishing is slow I switch to Bluegills. The free fishing pier at Crappie Point at Liberty Hill park is easy pickings for Bluegills. Generally in the 6" range, I have caught over 7" on occasion. Small hook and a piece of night crawler is the closest thing to a guaranteed catch. Other places like Lake Athens will have bigger Bluegills but may require a boat.
