Guys, I wanted you to know that George Glazener passed away this morning. His pancreatic cancer had returned, and he passed peacefully while under hospice care at home.

His passion for all things fly fishing related will be missed, but his legacy will continue through his posts and friends.

Al

George was a great friend and fought cancer right up to the end.
He was 90 years old and lived a full and complete life.
I will sorely miss him.

Wow. I still remember him going over a map of Texoma with me, showing me where to find smallmouths.

A memorial service will be held for George at 2 PM on Sunday Sept 13th. This service will be held at:

First United Methodist Church of Plano
3160 E. Spring Creek Parkway
Plano, Texas 75074

I'm saddened by George's passing, and I lost a mentor and a great friend. But, George was incredibly positive over the last month, and his determination to meet this issue head on was his last lesson to me. I expected nothing less of a man that spent his whole life sharing with others.

If you listened, he would teach you. That's as simple as I can put it. Love you Buddy, you're at peace now.

Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!

George was a pioneer of the sport in many ways. His spinster flies have caught many fish out of many waters. I especially enjoyed hearing his stories of smallmouth bass fishing in Lake Texoma.

Rest in Peace, George.
