Top water is killing it there. There are tons of baitfish too. You may mean there aren't a great variety of baitfish as your rebuttal.

Yup very overpopulated with smaller fish. It used to be catfish and crappie in there.too many people came and fished it out.

I can tell that place is pretty drained. If it was up to me I would catch some fish from Joe Pool and stock it. HAHA. It looks pretty over fished. I went yesterday and noticed a drainage ditch. I have no idea where it runs to since it goes under the road and the houses.

Have you been to the small pond that's in the brush behind the lake? It pretty bad with algae but I did notice movement in the water.

Yep that drain used to be filled with water half way up. Pond is real low. Idk if it'll ever get back to original pool. And that smaller pond down there has so many snakes, carp and bass. Biggest I've caught is 3lbs. Of course it was caught on the side that's impossible to reach now due to the overgrowth

Ah so there are things in there. I find it hard to believe there are carp there though. I wouldn't doubt there are tons of snakes in it! I wouldn't mind taking a machete and trail blazing back there.

Why is it hard to believe carp are in there?? Some big grass carp roam that unfished pond. And some BIG snakes do also. The only thing I found to work at that pond would be watermelon flukes rigged weightless.

The unfished pond is covered with brown algae from side to side. The water looks really nasty too. My instinct is telling me that the pond is oxygen starved. Also how could carp get in there? It is separated from the other lake. No, now that I remember there is a small run off that leads to the unfished lake but how would carp get in there unless someone put them in there first.

I am just surprised because I have never fished wild ponds with native carp.

Go to the opposite side of the pond from the road (closer to the school) and throw out from the big rock on the bank out towards the fountain. I've caught tons of small bass from that same spot over the years. I've also seen a 4 or 5 pounder surface right in front of the dam. Couldn't catch her though.

You should hit the pond directly under the dam of this pond. A Desoto PD officer told me about it. Caught some huge black bullheads from there and a decent bass, but I think there's some big ones down there. It doesn't get near the traffic of the bigger pond that you can see from the street.

@Creekbass79 I don't know what fountain you are talking about or what dam. Are you sure we are talking about the same pond? There is one at Briarwood Park that has two sections separated by a dam of rocks. It is down the street off of Beltline.
