Had the Engelking Family for some fishing Saturday. Looked at most of the regular hangouts that the white bass frequent and wouldn't you know it, nobody was home. Finally found them where they have been the last couple of weeks. They were roaming around on the edge of a big flat in about 17 feet of water. Instead of chasing after them when they wandered off, I just put the trolling motor in spot lock mode and waited. They would soon be back and everyone would have a fish on before they would leave again. We tried several different sized slabs and that did not seem to make much difference. They would take them all. Most of the fish were of the magnum variety. The ice chest was brimming full when we went in for the day. I was cleaning fish and remembered to take a photo. So some of the catch is missing in the photo. They left with 3 one gallon baggies of filets. Lake Lewisville is in great shape now. As of this morning, the water level is 0.31 feet high and clear. Both Lake Park ramps are open and we have access to the docks now also. It appears the flood has improved the fishing. Looks like a great Fall approaching.

There was a lot of action going on at Party Cove.

You were brave to be out there in the afternoon. How was the boat traffic? I learned real fast when I first had my boat. Lots of crazy and careless people. Thanks for the report Don. Thinking of going out there this Friday if work permits. Also cold front is moving in and I wondered how is that going to affect the bite. We'll find out this weekend.

Don, many thanks for taking the guys out and getting them on fish. Sorry I had to miss the trip but it sounds like my son stood in well and caught his share...and matched his uncles talking smack! Epic trips always leave their mark so this one will be bantered about for years. I appreciate your flexibility in taking the afternoon trip this time of year. It is not always the most comfortable but as you proved, the results can be as good as the morning bite. Once I get feeling better, I'll get in touch with you so I can enjoy some of that same type of action!

Thanks again for your hospitality and angling skills getting the guys on fish.
