My favorite place is on the Brazos below Lake Whitney. Locally my favorite DFW place is the Fort Worth Nature Center. Congratulations on getting your first kayak! Hope to see you on the water soon!

The Trinity River in Fort Worth is always fun. Decent fish with a lot of fight in them. I am sure Dallas has some good areas on the river as well though.

Is this your very first time out in a kayak? What's your favorite place to bank fish that you always wanted to get better access? How about start there. Brazos is a beautiful place with great fishing but it might have some hazards for a first time out. If they start producing power it can make it hard for the most experienced paddler to get back up stream. Best to start slow and easy. Fish your local pond if they allow access. Look on here for groups going out and tag along. Best way to make a maiden voyage awesome is to keep it safe and simple.

I got my kayak at the beginning of the year. My first time out was to a place that had very easy access. It had a ramp that you could pull your vehicle down and unload right there. It made adjusting to the kayak really easy and I didn't have to focus so much on making sure the launch went smooth. I recommend that no matter where you go, choose something with easy access and don't take all your tackle. If you dump it over, you'll lose anything not tied down. One last thing, don't go on a day that has 20+MPH wind. Choose a day with less wind like 5-10. You don't want to have to focus on big waves while trying to adjust to the stability of a kayak. That's my

This, but Todd was right and I also recommend your first time down there, that you go with someone who knows the river. I'm down there a lot, so give me a holler if you ever want to try it; there's a good chance I was gonna hit the river anyway.
