Does anyone here use the hair rig and boilies? If so are you having any luck. I am gonna start trying them over here at the Brazos River near Mineral Wells.

Absolutely. They are better in the winter though or it becomes a catfish fest

I use them all the time. I prefer small boilies like 10 to 12mm boilies.

I got my first bite on a home made boilie this morning. I am thinking it was a carp as the line broke before I could at least get a look at it. I was using 20# braided main line and 30# braided leader. The leader broke about 3 inches below the swivel connected to the main line. Since the line was brand new I am think the fish got the line to rub on a rock and frayed it. Oh well it was fun since I really do not have the right size small hooks I was using a # 6 regular bait hook (I think). Tomorrow #'s 4, 6, and 8 Octopus hooks should arrive from Amazon. I will wait till then before I try again. At least I know something will bite on my boiles.
