I was browsing around over at gander this afternoon and saw that their 13 fishing rods were on sale. $60 for the omen black. Just curious as to what's everyone's opinion and/or experience with these is?

I'd buy them up.

Those are the first gen, 13 makes great rods and there an innovative forward thinking company which is refreshing to see. At 60 those are a steal, even at full retail, they are hard to beat.

At $60 they are a deal but keep ur receipt cause u will break them.

I got a couple there a decent rod

I have 5 now that I've put thru the ringer. Most of the guys I fish with have at least 1 Omen Black, not one of them has broken one. Nor have I heard stories of them being fragile, so what are you talking about?

You may not get one after posting about them on sale before you purchased.

These Rods brake so easy. But they always replace them when they brake, so I love them

Haven't fished their rods much. I know a couple of people that have them and they like em a lot. However I bought their concept A reel for deep crankin. It peels 10 xd's through the water like butter. I would jump all over them for that price.

You better buy them before my check hits my account....I have 3 and I love every single one . I have pulled some fat fish with those rods

I broke the tip on one and they replaced it. They have a thin, stiff tip. Good for sensitivity but they can break. Debatable as to whether this is a design fault or poor use by users. As long as you are aware and careful not to over bend the tip like an Ugly Stick they are great rods.
For comparison, I am on my third Shimano Crucial. I have had two explode in the middle on hook set. I use 10lb test and 3/16 weights so it's not like I'm abusing the equipment.

I broke one tip because I put it in the ceiling fan. Other than that the ther 6 I owned that were bought used I will add never broke.. Great rods and probably the best rod for $100.00. The only thing I didn't care for were the handles were all the same length on every action Rod.

For the record, they aren't all $60. They're $40 off. The $140 ones are still $100. I went to the gander mtn in Lewisville, the worst fishing equipment store I've ever been in (while I was looking at rods they asked if I'd like to apply for the fishing dept manager position, ffs) and they had 2 baitcasting Omens left, both 7'11 heavies. The rest were all spinning. Don't waste your time at the Lewisville store, unless you want one of those 8 footers.

I've broken 3 Envy Blacks on hook sets, had each one for about a year, I think all three broke right below the 2nd or 3rd eye from the tip. They were good about swapping out the rod with no charge but I am now switching them to Dobyn's as I am tired of the hassle. I have not broken any other rod I own.

I did like the rods for the sensitivity and backbone but they got brittle with age, caught all 3 of my DD's on them but I won't buy another.
