Hello all. This is my first post but I've been looking at the forum for a while and learning from everyone. Me and my dad got to holiday at 5:30am and netted shad before going on the search for sandbass. Found birds working the whole time we were there until 1:30pm. We fished the north and south ends of the damn. We limited out on slabs and small swim baits. We couldn't buy a bite on live shad.

Very nice catch and report

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Thanks for the report. I might be taking my daughter out tomorrow morning. I haven't fished Tawakoni in probably 3 years. Don't know if I've ever fished it for anything other than largemouth, so I'll be interested to see how it goes. We won't be out there too long, so I'll be happy just for a couple bites.

Horrible trip for us. Got there at 4:15 and fished the dam area. Ended with 3 sandies and 1 cat. Not sure what happened but at least we're able to relax and watched the sunset. Next time will be better.

Nice fish!! Be very careful not to keep undersized hybrids in the mix with sandbass. Sometimes it gets confusing but can save you $$$ in the long run.

X2 , food

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

4 pm? The afternoon bites will break havoc once water surface cool down a bit more. Jmho.

I Love Fishing, Not sure where you were at the damn but from 5-730 the fish were schooling like crazy under the birds AT THE DAM on sunday!! Best advice I can give to somebody is go by yourself a GOOD set of binoculars and keep them on the boat.
