My dad and I are going to possum kingdom this upcoming weekend and can't decide whether to take the boat and find schooling sandies, or to take the kayaks and try to catch catfish and striper in the river. Personally I'm leaning towards the river because I've never fished it before, and I've always wanted to lol.

Any input would be great!

I put in at Tin Top road the other day, paddled up to the other side of Horseshoe Bend and floated and fished my back to the boat ramp. It was about 5 hours of fishing and 40 minutes of paddling (but I paddle fast).
It was in the hottest part of the day so I wasn't trying for cats but I caught some decent bass.

the river below the PK dam has been ok lately. There are still some small stripers and black bass in there. Topwater just after daybreak and then chartreuse swim baits later in the day.
