Well it happened. Was at the lake alone and used the spot lock while I retrieved the trailer. Once back, the remote would not steer it back. It actually became unlocked and floated away. It had been a little unresponsive earlier in the day.

Figured out was a bad battery so today I put a new one in. I found that sometimes pushing the buttons to steer, it would not turn then occasionally a few seconds later it would make a big steering change. Stepped into a friend's boat and spot locked it a few feet away. When I tried to retrieve it, the remote would not work. Once it unlocked spot lock and was able to relock it but no other functions would work. I was less than 20 Ft away with no obstructions.

Anyone had this issue before? I assume that it will be the remote but it could possibly be the unit having issues receiving the signal. I should still have a couple months left on the warranty and will contact them next week but afraid because it is intermittent, they might have problems diagnosing.

clean all remote contacts in the battery compartment, we do monthly and all problems went away, polish both sides of battery on your jeans

My Riptide ST does that some. I can be in the back of the boat and get no response with a clear line of sight. I will try the contact cleaning as well. I'm not impressed with it so far.
