Just found out my 8 y.o. son and I will be in DFW area starting tomorrow for fun and I'm looking for a couple good locations for pier/shore fishing. We'll be going after pan fish mostly, but my son wants to catch whatever he can.
This trip is purely for fun and we can drive just about anywhere in the area if it's worthwhile. We're coming from Midland where fishing options are a little challenging, so we're looking forward to some water!

Thx.

Depending upon where you are staying, they may some good water close. Let us know the area that you will be in and I'm sure we can put some suggestions out there for you.

I know it's a big area, but we're willing to drive a little for a good spot.

Grapevine is close to DFW. Don't know what parks are open. We've had a lot of high water.

On the 31st I went to the spillway of Aquilla and had a ball catching blue cats on sweet corn of all things. I was trying to carp but the cats just ate up the corn. Don't fish near the outlet but further down. I started about 2 hours before sunset and waited until there was just enough light to see. Most were small but I did catch a few that were legal. Hope this helps you have some fun with him.

I'm on other forums that deal with the old turbo powered Buicks.;)

Don't know if your looking for spots anymore but there are posts about the Twin Lakes. I think they are close to the DFW airport too. Search "Twin Lakes" on the forum, it should give you a map.
