There was a post this last week asking "why do you come to the TFF?" Our last trip out on Palestine was the reason. Started the TFF over in the whites/hybrids section and made some really good resident friends over there. They helped me learn the lake and how to put striped fish in the boat. Eventually learned they were masters of catching crappie too.

This summer my fishing buddy and I made the switch over to the speckled fish and it is flat addictive. For a while we would bring crappie and hybrid rods but now it is just the crappie ones. Have enjoyed reading all the crappie section posts and have learned a ton and made some new friends. Usually dont post much because still feel like a beginner but yesterday just felt like we knew what we were doing.

A few weeks ago I went out for a short trip with Slewfoot when he was prefishing Palestine for the CAT tournament (planning on trying to fish a few of those tourneys next year). I was blown away by how easy he made it look searching and fishing new water. Marking every laydown and pile and being able to tell which ones were loaded up with fish and which ones looked like they should hold fish for later. Since then have spent the last few weeks just looking at new water and dropping way points and yesterday was the first day we really went out and fished mostly new to us brush.

Fishing report was same as its been the last few weeks, just a completely different part of the lake. Brush in 15-20 fow was the best to us. Hero jig of the day was Pepops 1/8 oz wizard but caught fish on BES and East Tx Killer lil fry and mr fry, blue and yellow slab bandits an orange and yellow bonehead slim sticks. We had 49 on the counter at 3:50 but didn't get #50 until 4:30. Had to work harder for that last fish than any of the other ones, but we weren't leaving without it. It was rewarding, however, next time we will probably just shut it down at 49.

Sorry for long post, but thanks TFF. Thanks again to Bluenitro for the help with getting my new HDS set up and linked to the xi5. Very impressive how they work together!

.

Thanks. Ready for that dock shooting! Seemed like they moved off the docks the week after we learned how to do it.

He ate a slab bandit and didnt want to put him back in the brush pile. Had a few nice catfish too but have seen how hard a time people catch for keeping those slimey things.
