Launched at Katie's Woods about 9:30am. I made my way across the lake to the Murrell Park area. I immediately started marking fish in 19 ft.. I drop down and hook up. I commenced to drop and catch eight more in a row. They moved on and so did I. As I was slowly trolling up a slope I noticed some marks that looked like a Douglas Fir tree on my graph in 17 feet of water. I dropped a slab down and began hooking up on 9 inch crappie. I caught 1 then turned around a spot locked on top and caught 9 more before they left me. I noticed a boat trolling the break in about 22 ft. and it looked like they were doing pretty good. I searched a couple of other areas on the north side and could not find any thing besides channel kitties. Schools of them on the north west end of the lake. I caught four and moved on. Next I went to the Meadowmere area and fished a point in 22ft. I was not marking a lot at first but caught 2 in about 3 minutes, then the school came through. I caught multiple doubles on sand bass for about 15 or twenty minutes then it thinned out to singles until it got too hot for me and I left. Off the lake by 1:30pm. I wanted to stay but I was all out of sweat and water. 78 fish on the clicker,10 crappie, 2 largemouth a few kitties and the rest sand bass! Nice mixed bag.
Grapevine is looking healthy and so are the fish. All fish caught on Ole Ugly slabs and flies. Water temp 84 degrees.
Be safe if your out on the water this weekend, there will be a lot of people on the lakes with several local lakes opening more ramps.
