I have a friend that lives over there and he said "stay in Lufkin". I did an Expedia search and it only showed places in Lufkin, too.

Be safe,

Pittsburg is only about 35 minutes from Gilmer. Lots closer than Lufkin! Several places to stay in Pittsburg.

There's two motels in Gilmer. Executive Inn will be the better of the two. Gilmer Inn will be the second, but will still be decent. Both are within a block of each other at the intersection of Hwy 271 and Hwy 300......
