thanks for the info, maybe I'll save up and go buy one.

MikeB....according to Topwater you need to be changing out those sharp hooks!! Evidently, they are sharp enough!!

I can't catch anything on that 1/2oz in sure it's just me though. I prefer to 1/4oz just seem to catch more fish for me. But u can't go wrong with either really depends on the size of bait the fish are feeding on I guess

I only own and throw the 1/4oz. Weighed in plenty of tournament fish from April to August on it up to 8.5lbs so far. I have 3-4 colors but only throw 1 color 95% of the time. I usually make a few mods to a new one when I first get it and then throw it until the knock all the paint off and then throw it some more. Coach

I guess saying I'm throwing a Yellow Magic is more fashionable than saying Pop-R!

Yea. . .you should read up a little. The two don't compare beyond both being poppers. A YM popper will outfish a PopR by at least 5 to 1. It is hands down the best popper ever made. There's a reason so many of us throw them and it has jack to do with pride or ego. They catch more fish.

I have and use both, but I prefer the magnum model, primarily because it's easier to cast and can handle bigger hooks.

I've notice on bigger YM the little 2lb fish usually try knock it out of the water, never really bite but come up and try to kill it I suppose, I've had it several times, little fat 2lbers come up and knock it out of the water and go on, smaller YM they'll inhale it

A magnum ismy goto bait. Like others said you can cast it a mile and the big girls choke it. I caught some 6 inch dinks on it this week

The posters on this site got me so excited about Yellow Magics, I ran out to buy one for a fishing trip on the next day. Cabela's only had the Magnum so that's what I bought. The next day, I caught my PB largemouth on Ray Roberts. Since then, I've loaded up on the 1/4 oz model and absolutely kill the fish with alewife and bone.
