The Wife and I will be up there for my birthday in less than two weeks, she rented us a place on the south side of the lake and I don't know much about the fishing there.
I've been doing my research and I've got a map, but I'm new to this particular lake.
Any advice specific to Conroe would be greatly appreciated. We'll be there for 4 days, Friday-Monday.
I've got a 17' boat with depth finder, jug lining gear, chum etc.

I would drift the southern end with cut shad. Strictly obey all no wake signs as they are zealously encoded.

Thanks for the heads up on the no-wakes.
I'll try drifting as you suggested.
Anyone else have suggestions? Kinda quiet on this post...

Never been to this lake but drifting is a good idea this time of year. The fish seem to be more spread out this time of year and drifting lets you cover a large area. I would use fresh cut bait. shad, drum, carp, buffalo, or perch are good baits. I would target mid deep ranges 15ft to 30ft to start out then move shallower if this doesnt produce fish.

I've got milo, but I've never tried chumming in water over 10' deep. Usually, I chum in 3-6 FOW for channels. I'm reading reports that say to focus on 15-30 FOW.
