Bought a Minn Kota Edge from academy back in July installed it, first trip out the switch went out didn't work on speeds 3-5 and wouldn't turn off had to disconnect power, took that one back to academy still within there return date policy got hassled a little bit but after hour or so they swapped it out for me took that one home, same problem different speeds not working and wouldn't turn off on the 0 had to find the right position to turn it off, took it back to academy another 2 hours of talking to 3 different managers and I was on my way home for the 3rd time so everything should work now. Go out fishing speed 5 is slower then speed one speed 2 doesn't work at all and have to turn it to almost reverse speed 1 to get it to cut off, academy says can't return it there, get in touch with minn Kota and they don't know why I'd be having trouble with the motor cause they test each motor before they ship them out, and I can take it to their authorized place in hutto to have them look at it, and repair it. My problem is that one I work 2 jobs and am a single father so when I do have time to get out why should I even trust this motor to work properly, 2 I just want my money back or credit for a higher end motor. I have had this motor less then 45 days it has been on the water less then 8 hours and no even used for an hour before the problems started but my options from customer service are take it to the authorized shop have them look at it see what the problem is and fix it and from talking to the guy not gonna be an overnight turn around cause gonna have to order parts and the labor, or ship it to them directly at my own expense and they will look at it on top of the 3 trips to academy and 3 installations and the trouble on the water with it not working right on time that I could be fishing with my son for his birthday! My rant is over! Just a heads up if you are considering them they don't work out of the box you have to go out of your way to get it fixed and be motor less for a couple weeks or more. So right now I'm stuck with a $250 paper weight!
