If this is in the wrong section please remove.

Thanks!

Good luck on that. All you can do is keep your eye out on Craigslist or in the classifieds here in the kayak section. They are hard to even find new right now....

Since they came out I've seen exactly three for sales used. I wouldn't look to make a killing on a fantastic deal though as even those were priced pretty close to the new price.
Watch for clearance sales around December and January as the new models start coming in.

Just one more cast!

Lumnz,

I love mine and I hope you find one.

Here is what I'd do: Go to Facebook and there is a Native Owners Forum and another maybe related to the Propels. And, there is a D/FW kayak forum, too, though I don't know where you live.

I have seen several Propels for sale, most have been the larger 13s, some really incredible deals, too.

I bet you can find one. Even one of the posters here showed some of his riggings on his Propel 13 a year or so ago, then had it for sale not long ago at a really good price. If I remember, he listed it for $1500.

Brad

yea, you would be better off looking for a 13 right now. I know of no 10's for sale... I might be getting another 10 myself... LOL.

Leave it to the hammer to buy all of the 10's!

A newbie question here.
Why are these 10's so popular that they are hard to get? I am looking for my first kayak and it seems like everybody is recommending I get a 12-14 footer.

The 10 is the newest Slayer Propel so there are very few used ones. They are popular because they are very light weight and stable for a 10' boat. The Propel unit also makes them track well for a shorter boat. Native has been having a hard time keeping up with demand so don't delay if you see one you can afford!

Yep, they are the bees knees. If you ever try one you will probably buy one. I know I did!

So you guys prefer them over the 13's even though they are only a couple hundred less?

Or is it all about your needs? Lighter and easier to put in a truck.

I guess im asking if you walked up to a cove on a lake and a 10 and 13 were sitting there which one would you get in?

Just having some fun and trying to learn a little about these. Thanks guys!!

I own both a 10 and a 13. They are both excellent boats.
For the majority of my fishing the 10 is my first choice due to the fact that it is 3 feet shorted and 20 pounds lighter.

Two very important criteria to remember: One is you need to buy the kayak that best suits the water you fish and, of course, the way you fish; the second is you need to consider which vessel you are most likely going to get out on the water most often.

I have a trailer but I could car-top my 10. If I had, say a Hobie 17T, while it would be a fantastic kayak, I likely wouldn't get it out as often.

Time on the water is a really big deal and a 10 optimizes this. For a guy with a van or a pick-up truck? He might get bored watching Oprah or Judge Judy, can literally walk to his garage, grab the kayak and some gear and be on a lake in less than an hour, at least around D/FW.

The downside to a 10? About a half mile an hour of speed and marginally less stable to stand in or take out offshore. The upside? More nimble to fish out of and, again, you are going to use the heck out of it.

*** My next kayak will be either the Propel 13 or the new pedal driven model out early next year. One or the other to round out needs for different situations. I bet I am in the 10 more often though.

Brad

Great quick review there Brad. I also have both the 10 and 13. Mariner Sails just had a demo day on White Rock this past weekend. People were asking was the Slayer Propel 10 really as light as they said. I picked the whole thing up out of the water to show them and then everyone else wanted to take turns... LOL. It's light, nimble and fun.

There is a Native Mariner Propel for sale in Houston/Pasadena. $1000. Not mine. I bet it doesn't last 24 hours. If you are going to be picky about size and color, then you pretty much have to buy a new one.

Thanks for that Brad. I never thought about those points regarding the 10. I have been very narrow minded in thinking I NEED a 13 due to my size.
