I have a couple of reels that I am using with braided line that's over 2 years old. It is still strong, but how old will you guys let braid get before you replace it?

You can take another reel and spool your old braid from one reel to the other. I normally don't do this but have in the past a few times and it works fine, especially if your not using backing. Most of that braid that gets spooled on first never sees the water, so it's basically new.

I suspect braid will be here long after we are all gone.

I suspect braid will be here long after we are all gone. haha. This!!! Not too long ago, I fished the Missouri River in South Dakota with a 45 year old reel and 45 year old braid. Thank goodness I didn't get a bite. Lol. It was hard enough to cast it. I don't know that I could have reeled it in with a fish on it. But the braid was still on it when I was done. Lol

Yep, the life of braided line is only something your grand kids need to worry about. The line way outlasts the dye used.

I suspect braid will be here long after we are all gone. That's pretty funny there! Yes it lasts a long time.

When I fished a lot I would use braid for a year and before the next year started I would pull the braid off turn it around and respool it for that year and then change it out the next so I got 2 years out of it.
