Went to Cedar Creek Sunday to do a little scouting. Crppie fishing was pretty good until this happened eeks eeks Didn't have a scale in the boat big enough to weigh it but estimated it to do 40+. Pro Angler rod, 8# Trilene mono and a 1/8 oz Rocky Top jig. Took 20+ minutes to land, and ....thank you David (Shut-Up-And-Fish) for the net job (could only get the head into the net).
And yes, I did release the fish...after he took a chunk outta my finger bang

That a nice one and caught on 8# line and a crappie jig. Quite an accomplishment on such light tackle. Congratulations!

Not to mention had to dislodge the fish from under a lay-down. Quite a battle Guy had on his hands. I have video of it and trying to figure out how to get from my i-phone and in this post.....

Scouting for the big girls (crappie) was successful as well.

That will happen. Caught a Blue about that size at Ray Roberts crappie Fishing. It took a 1/16 red and white jig with a chartreuse and white rage tail. hard to believe those big fish eat small minnows but they do.

Fun, FUN, FUN!

My last 2 trips there, I've had big fish on that broke my scarred up 6# leader like it wasn't anything.
I was prefishing and mostly searching, so I haven't been concerned about how ragged my leader got bang

The bite is very good at CC right now

I don't know whether to be happy with the catfish gods or mad at the crappie gods at Cedar Creek. My PB on flatheads there is 62# on a crappie pole set-up about 10 years ago. But considering the way that I've been fishing here lately....I'll take anything that will bite my jig clap

Guy, this reminds me of the very first time I booked a trip with you on CCL, had to be 10 years ago. We had been shooting some docks (I think my first time) when you pulled up to the old original Super Dock. You told us not to shoot it as it was a jig eater but, you wanted to see if it was holding any fish.
Well, your first shot, you hooked and landed a 22# cat and I believe you were using 6# Mr Crappie line at that time! You took a pic of my buddy and I holding it up, which I'm pretty sure I still have!
That was a great trip and thanks for the memory!
