I've always had luck with Traps, Little George types, Pop R's, Spooks.

3/8 Kastmaster with a feather hook. I have a friend of mine tie a short shank No 4 with white feathers. That kastmaster matches the shad fry very well. Hit them when they are blowing and reel as soon as it hits the water keeping it high.

I love a topwater like a torpedo or a Yellow Magic when they are schooling but when reach is an issue it's hard to beat a trap or a spoon ripped through the school. Also with the spoon you can kill it and often find the larger fish under the school.

Try a good ol Road Runner. That might just do the trick. But not many bass anglers have the larger ones in their arsenal. They work almost as good as an H&H! LOL

If you can find them try a cotton cordell near nuthin. This is your best option for schooling bass, the problem is finding these lures. Add a flee-fly jig on a 18" leader and double the fun.
Slide right, coming in .... Fish On!

LOL This +1 Use the new 3/8oz Randy Runner with a trailer that matches what they are chasing in color and size. The flash of the blade gets em' on your bait. Great new lure. Use it all the time on schoolers in Athens.

I need a lure for making long casts into schooling bass that push shad to the top of the water and don't stay up long enough to get close to them. Which lure works best for this situation? A Spoon.
