Hiya folks! New to the forums and to the Garland/Rowlett area. Im looking for a couple of good spots to get into a bit of catch and release carp fishing that aren't too out of the way or, well.. illegal. Lol With the crappie house up on lewisville flooded out the only carp hole I've got left is out in Denton and its so ate up with turtles its almost not worth the hour or more drive to get out there. I like to fish for carp, buffs and catfish with homemade doughbait and boilies, and in some cases just some good old fashioned sweetcorn so Im looking for places that these baits work well and are acceptable/legal. Is the crappie barge up on Ray Hubbard any good for carp or catfish? Also would Rowlett Creek be worth looking at right now? I haven't been fishing all year and now that me and the family are all settled in Im feelin that itch to get into something with some fight in it. Any advice and help are greatly appreciated.

I ain't lookin to trash anyone's stomping grounds, we clean up after ourselves well. So any fishin holes shared will be well taken care of.

Thanks again in advance guys.

this time of the year the turtles are goin to be in force whether its a small pond or huge lake. i have caught at Ray Hubbard but usually start fishing there in the fall due to lack of shade trees . John Paul Jones park and Lake Side Park South is where i do all my fishing .If you find some other decent places let me know .

Thanks. =) I hope so too. Barring that I may just do some roaming around this weekend and see if anything looks fishy.

Drive to Cedar Hill to Joe Pool Lake.
At Lynn Creek in Grand Prairie the public actually feed the carp.
You could walk around the marina without getting your feet wet.
The State Park is closed due to flooding for a few more weeks.
When it is open the carp jump all morning long at the insects.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but the place where the public feeds the carp at the marina is off limits to fishing. The fishing barge next to the area is good.

Awesome! Any particular intersections I should try? I've been told it crosses many roads out here and you can see people lining the banks forever during the white bass runs. lol I can't wait to see it!
