My Fury 703c is absolutely SHREDDING line on hooksets. I've tried different lines, and then gone and put those reels on other rods. Both fluorocarbon and mono frayed on the fury only. I've checked all the guides for anything unusual but I can't see any cracks or rough patches. Tried a q-tip test on all the guides and none of them snagged any cotton. Has anyone had to send a rod back to Tackle Warehouse?

Check your reel guide also. Also if you allow a loop on your reel spool, then next cast could fray your line.

I was told there was a flaw in the rods when they released them and changed the guides from the ones they field tested. Didn't field test the new guides. Dobyns was suppose to recall the rods but never did.

Heard rumors of the same thing. Hard to believe since we even took guides for granted even with those old Ugly Sticks. Got me worried since I ordered a Dobyns Fury 795 swimbait rod from Fishing World about 2 months ago and it has yet to come in. Maybe they are working on the problem. Imagine setting the hook on a $$$ swimbait and breaking your line each time?

Just got off the phone with Dobyns. Apparently some of the Fury rods got shipped with an incorrect tip guide and it has been causing issues. They're sending me a replacement tip today. Thanks for all the help guys!

Well, i got my tip today, put it on, and it didnt fix my problem. Its one or two of the double footed guides, i figured out. Still didnt see any nicks or anythingon them, but it was clear where the issue was this time. Calling again tomorrow >:(
