I bought one from Shut up and Fish. My installation time is nothing to brag about, but that unit is really cool.

I took it out for a test run this morning, and it held right on 4 different spots.

Two thumbs up.

It depends what you get. 24V, thrust, shaft length etc., but mine was in the 1400 range.

Fyi, if you didn't do the compass calibration yet, make sure that you do. Press and hold the M button and while doing that, press the 1 button three times then drive around in two tight circles with your big motor. It is easy to be amazed at how well it works straight out of the box if you are switching over from an i-pilot, but it will be even better after you calibrate it.

How tight would it hold on spots? 5 ft circle?

Thank you sir. I didn't even read that part yet. This thing is awesome.

In my opinion the Xi5 is the best thing I've seen in 20 years. Anything that will hold me on top of a brush pile while I break up my two fighting daughters is bad to the bone. It also has an option that will move you 5' when you push that arrow keys up back or side to side. This feature allows you to probe around the pile. The preset waypoints are pretty cool just wish they had more on the controller.

The Motorguide xi5 has two (2) GPS antennas. One is in the head unit and the other is in the mount. This allows for the to hold much better as when one (1) antenna looses signal the second (2) antenna has already picked it up.

If any one is needing further information about the Motorguide xi5 I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Shoot me a PM or give me a call. I would be happy to discuss with you directly.

So the thumbs up is for the Xi5 trolling motor or the great guide that put you on those 4 spots?!?!?

I told you that you would like it a lot. Now just need to get you on a Lowrance Touch.

I probably need to try and calibrate it again I guess. Mines got a definant jog back and forth to it. Also where I hit anchor at is never where I end up at? I always gotta walk myself back to what I'm trying to anchor on in the first place. Sometimes it's not easily done.
