I was told that alfalfa bales would draw in crappie and catfish. Just checking to see if anyone else does this with any success. Thanks.

Yep, it works but usually when the catfish, and carp, move in the crappie move out... At least that is how it has worked for me.

haha, that's what I was thinking. A bale of hay is hard to sink and have you priced alfalfa lately? You might go to the feed store and buy a sack of alfalfa cubes and sink them in a mesh bag. That would be easier.

My husband puts both cottonseed meal and alfalfa hay plus a whole bunch of other stuff in his attractant.all I know is that he stays up till 3 o'clock in the morning to mix his concoction. he catches Crappie like crazy.

Cottonseed cake is a carp secret formula. Just FYI.

You will catch a little of EVERYTHING!!!one bad thing about it whatever species that dominate crappie once they get there by by crappie they will be gone.

Any thing you feed cows will work, but remember it pulls in bait fish and they pull in the fish.[all fish] If you want to catch big crappie do it by fishing where other people don't. If you don't know how to find these places just think about it. A couple I like best is brush piles out in the edge of woods. most don't carry there big fancy boats into the woods. A log laying out by its self is often good most take the time to fish it.

Crappie are easier to come by than alfalfa! If I get a good bail of non irrigated alfalfa it's going to the lease for Axis! Heck w trashing in in the lake for fish!!
