Had a disappointing trip to Granger last night. No fish caught. The first disappointment was that the wind did not lay down at sundown, so we had a bouncy, wavy time on the lake. (the wind did finally calm, at midnight, as we were leaving).
But also of interest, the shad never came to the lights. We had one submersible green florescent light out, and one 40 watt white light shining down into the water. Normally, within a hour of putting the lights out, there are clouds of shad and glass minnows circling the boat. No so last night. A few dozen small minnows made an appearance, that is all.
Clear skies and a full moon. 12 feet of water, near some drowned timber, over an old gravel roadbed.
Any thoughts as to why the shad did not show up? Was it the full moon?

shad follow the plankton. were u in a location that the wind had been blowing into?
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Not into, we were a long way from shore. yes, foam was blowing past us under the lights in the wind. Are you saying the wind was creating a surface current that was moving faster than the plankton could move, thus no concentration of plankton thus no shad?
