For the last several days there are tons of sandies between the marina and the beginning of the dam. Some birds working, but because most are very small, you will not see a lot of topwater action, but if you watch your electronics you will see them light up with fish everywhere in the water column from 35 ft to surface.

Two of us today were fishing between 9-11 and caught 152....now most were really small....but there were at least 25 that would be good keepers, a few up to 13 inches. The key to the keepers was to try to get down to the bottom as quick as possible so you could bet thru the tons of small fish. The shad they are eating are pretty small, so you would think to use a small slab....that will make you catch a lot of fish, but a lot of small fish. I put on a large slab with a fly tied above and because it drops a lot faster I was able to get to the bottom and that is where you could find some nice keepers.

If you have kids, it is a great way to keep them busy, we left after 2 hours with them still biting.
