Fairly inexperienced crappie angler here. At this point, I'm thinkin of hitting Lavon on Sunday to try to get after some crappie. I have no plan or knowledge other than searching some stumps and bridge pilings in various depths with minnows and jigs until I find some.

What is the best crappie lake around NE Dallas? Hubbard, Lavon, Lewisville, Grapevine, Ray Bob? I know Fork is good but I'm trying to keep it a little closer.

Thank you for the tips. I haven't caught crappie with much success in a while except for incidental catches here and there while fishing for bass/hybrids.

Probably Lavon but I haven't had much luck yet this year. But I guess you have to go to be able to catch!!!

Brocephus my favorite is Lavon. Partial to it because I usually do good in my slip and the banks in the spring as well as wading. Do not have a boat yet but working on it. Also Tawakoni has been good to me over the years as well. Waiting for cooler weather to get back out there. Hopefully it will be another good fall, winter and spring bite.

Lavon is the place if you're not willing to go to fork for huge slabs.
