So I went to lake Weatherford early this morning and fished. Not a single bite but I was kinda of expecting that. I fished mainly the north side of the lake in 3-5 ft of water. I found the lake to be really nice to paddle and seems to be a pretty decent lake to fish. So my question has anyone ever had any success out there and if so what did you use? Today was my first time out there so, any help would be appreciated. I live real close to there now and want to try and fish it as much as I can. Thanks!!

I used to do fairly well out there but here lately I haven't been having any luck. The last 2-3 times I fished it I didn't get a bite either. I've had luck with chartreuse swim baits in the aerators and with crank baits by the dam. It seems to me that there are still so many baitfish available that they aren't interested in anything else. Lake Weatherford was packed with yellow bass last year but not many sand bass. You know it's slow when you can't even catch yellow bass.

Thanks for reply! I'm going tomorrow to try the damn and some crankbaits after work. I'm once again not going to get my hopes up but I just got my new outback mirage (not brand new but new to me) and I just want to get out on it and through some lines. Haven't had a chance to fish all year with work and all that and lake Weatherford is literally 5 min drive so maybe something lucky will strike!

I live about 4 minutes away so I may see you out there some time. I'll either be in a red outback or a dune revo. Not sure when I'll get back out there though.

I fished Lake Weatherford this morning. I threw all kinds of lures with no bites. I caught a few shad with my cast net and even then I only managed one small yellow bass. My buddy didn't get a single bite throwing lures.

Sounds like a handful of us all live within 5 min of this lake, we should get out there and figure it out. I have had decent luck around docks with a texas rig.

post the next time you plan to hit it and I'll see if I can make it. I haven't been having any luck out there lately. You know it's bad when you can't even catch yellow bass.

Yea I would for sure be interested in joining you guys out there. I went on Tuesday and I threw every kind of bait you could imagine and not a single bite. I tried north side of lake, south side, east, west you name it!! But I'm not giving up yet. I am however going to try and put in at tin top
In the morning and test out the river. I hear good things have been happening on the brazos lately.

My son and I went out on Monday 8/24 from about 7-1130 he managed to get two black bass in the kayak. Both were about 10 inches. He caught them on a black and chartreuse Beatle spin. I threw senkos, flukes and a free rattle traps with out a bite. We stayed near the marina. Watching him get his first fish from his kayak made the trip well worth it.

Catching anything in that lake right now is something to celebrate but first bass from a yak is really cool. I caught my first yak bass out there too a few years ago. That was after about 5 trips without catching anything first. I caught a 6 inch yellow bass and hooped n' hollered like I had caught a double digit.
