Looking for some help with this situation. I was involved in a boat accident on Saturday morning in the lakeview marina on Lewisville.2 Gentlemen in a small sailboat were not paying attention and were heading straight for the gas dock when they turned 90 degrees and ran right in the side of my boat doing close to 5 grand in damage. The owner of the boat told me he had insurance trough a binder off of his home owners policy. He then called me and said the boat on that policy was sold and the boat he hit me in was not covered and is refusing to pay me.. What is my course of action now... Pissed

After all is said and done the owners insurance company made it right and paid up... I want to thank Chris at Classic Fiberglass for jumping right on this job and doing a fantastic job on the repairs. Chris and his guys went Above and Beyond and I will be a long time customer for a long time.. I will recommend Classic Fiberglass to everyone

Sounds like attorney time, or call him and say the word attorney and it will cost him double or triple if it goes to that.

Police Report, Call to your insurance company, they will likely be able to advise best recourse I would imagine.

Or since his boat isn't insured just take it to cover your losses... He doesn't have it covered lol... hold it for ransom or sell it for scrap noidea

Make a police report for sure. Taking him to court might not do you any good. He cant pay you what he may not have. That might end up being another expense for you. Not sure if this is the same as auto insurance but you might be able to claim on yours and let your insurance go after him for restitution. We had to do that in an auto accident. Even that doesn't always work though.

Get your insurance people involved. Contact the jurisdiction of the area and file an official report etc.

Mark is definitely correct here. File a claim with your insurance first assuming you have all of the info on him. Insurance company, boat ID, his contact info, etc. I've also never heard of being able to insure a boat as part of your homeowners policy so remember that in the future.

Good luck with it.

Yep, they have lawyers for this . small claims for your deductible and let your insurance co go after him for their cost.

Cannot stand people who won't take responsibility for their actions. If he doesn't have insurance he should pay for the damages out of his own pocket.

Going to your insurance company makes the most sense-they should pay depending on what your policy covers then they can go after him for restitution.
