What an adventure! A memory that will last a lifetime! Wife and I went down to the marina while little one was sleeping and her grandma was watching her. Resulted in a Muy Grandé Mahi Mahi! What a great adventure! I was walking a round looking at the boats and dreaming and I said I wish I could go out again she said find someone and I asked the first amigo and bam we where headed out. Not in a fancy 30' boat or 5 person crew but in a 21' Panga (skiff) and Felipe was the best saltwater guide I have ever had the pleasure of sharing a boat with. I drove while we both looked for pájaros (birds) or any fish breaking the surface. We ended up 5-6 miles off shore in the 21' Ponga in 3-4 seas. We managed to hook this big bull dorado less than an hour in and what an acrobat he was, jumping 8-10' out of the water several times and tried spooling the reel on the first sight if the boat. I also saw a monster blue marlin (250-350#) tail walk three times, rushed over (I had that 70 horse motor pegged) but didn't make it quite in time. We stopped and dropped live bait on a reef and caught 3 Amber Jacks in 3 drops and called it a night about an hour after dark. This is the kind of spontaneous fishing trip that will never be forgotten me resulted in a great trophy I have been chasing for years.

Where were you? Sounds like Cabo.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Nice fish! Man, that's the fanciest panga I've ever seen! Bimini top, fishing chair and hand rails!? Do they serve drinks with the little umbrellas? Just kiddin'! Cheers, George

Those panga's are amazing boats, I couldn't believe how well they handle big rollers with little bitty outboards... Thanks for sharing Cody, great trip. Bet you can't wait to do that again LOL
