Sometimes I troll to find fish ... I could just ride around and look at the graph ... Why not throw a line or two in the water also ? When I find a concentration of fish ... Those lines come in, I spotlock over them and the slab rods come out .... Caught quite a few "BIG" loner fish while looking ...

It'll put the fish down and kill the bite. It's not only bad manners, it's a bite killer.
That's why folks get so upset about it.
"..The pleasantist angling is to see the fish Cut with her golden oars the silver stream, And greedily devour the treacherous bait. Bill Shakespeare

I see the points for both sides, but I'm not sure how you can claim a spot just because you're using slabs not trolling.
Case in point; A few days ago I was trolling a stretch of Belton with no boats within 400 yards. We started bending rods and 2 boats moved in. One, a guide boat, literally raced in on plane and stopped directly behind our boat. The other boat actually tried to troll our track but of course couldn't because the guide boat now blocked him.
We just laughed at the guide. We decided his new motto could be "XXXXXXXX's Guide Service. We'll be a pr*ck for you!"

X2, once you found fish, stop trolling,... to keep trolling back and forth over a fish spot is wasting gas and horting public water space,... If people can catch fish without trolling, so can you. If you can't learn the technics it's your short comings and it doesn't effort you the vast public water space "trolling lane", period. And finally it's dumb to troll in shallow water near shoreline, you will scare off quality fish. Big fish learn to stay away from human that how they live and grew to be so big, they come shallow when it's quiet and flight at the slightest man made sounds.
Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.
