Have a friend with a new boat on the way. What brand of insurance do you all like. I remember a thread a couple of yrs ago but can't find it. He and I have both had Progressive, just looking for options.

Geico has been good. They paid my claims quickly and had a reasonable price.

The insurance provider is not nearly as important as the agent. Call Bob Luellen at Worldwide Marine Insurance Underwriters and go with whichever company he recommends. I have Progressive through Bob, had a big claim and it was handled every step of the way by Bob and Progressive's agent working together.

They were great for me back in the spring I bent my prop shaft and took it to Rockwall Marine and called Bob and the next day the adjuster from Progressive called me and the following day he went to the shop to do the estimate. Two days later the check was sent to Rockwall for the repair less deductible. Really hard to ask for better service than that.

I must be getting old. I cant remember the company I use but I would find one that has total loss coverage. When I get home I will repost the name of the company. I agree with the part about the agent being most important but you want a reputable company also. Reputable doesn't necessarily mean big.

If you have USAA for insurance you can get a discount with Progressive through USAA. Unless you had a problem with them? They have been very good to me.

I went through Craig Helm with Goosehead Insurance in Graham. He priced mine (2013 FX 20) through Progressive, Travelers, and another company I can't remember (maybe safeco). At any rate, Travelers ended up being the best rate and best coverage (which even surprised Craig as he usually writes Progressive policies). I even switched all my vehicles to Travelers from Texas Farm Bureau and it saved me a ton and I got better coverage as well. All that to say, you may try Travelers.

Hands down, Bob at World Wide Marine will be your best choice; almost half the price with more coverage. thumb

As a repair facility I will rank my my top ten insurance companies in order of how easy they are to deal with.
1. Progressive
2. Alstate, Safeco and Formost
3. State Farm (They have changed a little for the worse in the past year or they would be higher)
4. Farm Bureau (They are easy but don't have a adjuster that has a clue about boats so that can be a pain sometimes)
5. Geico, Boat US, American Modern, ACE (Fairly easy to deal with but sometimes like to charge a depreciation on the mechanical)

I may have forgotten some.

Hope this helps.

Ditto!
Classic has my boat right now. It was painless! Claim has already paid and they have only had it a week
