Need advice on rod type for surf fishing and line size

New to forum here and salt water fishing I just ordered 3 daiwa 7 hts reels and would like to know what rods and size line would work best for surf fishing thanks

Everyone will have their own opinion but for Rods you're going to want longer rods at least 7' with 9-12' being better. The longer the rod the further you will be able to cast that hunk of bait. As for line, I use straight braid in the 50-90lb range with a steel leader. With the braided line you get so much more line on a reel than with mono and the wear/abrasion resistance is incomparable. I've never been a big fan of mono leaders or fluorocarbon but a lot of people love it and swear by it.

I prefer a 50-80# mono shock leader, braid don't like sudden loading nor does it like rubbing bottom. Braid will help with line capacity. I like that shock leader to be rod length plus 6 wraps on spool.
