Been using BPS cranking sticks for 4 years they are pretty neat up and it's time to look for some new ones before next year. I have been very interested in the duckett micro pro 7' M action rods and the new 13 omen crankbait rods. Any other good ones to look at less than 150$. These will be used for yellow magic, 1.5/2.5 cranks, traps, jerk baits and probably series 5 cranks.

I was at Academy last night in Arlington and I noticed some Tatula rods but not sure if they were XT models.

I have a Powell Diesel glass model and it works good. They carry them at TackleWarehouse for 79.00 I think. I bought the Powell because I had never used glass and wanted to try it but not spend a fortune in case I didn't like it. It hasn't disappointed. I also have a Falcon Bucoo(Mansfield Special)that works real well. These two are good rods for me when throwing cranks but for traps I use a h/f(especially if throwing over or around grass) and for jerkbaits I will use m/f.

You owe it to yourself to try the Academy Ethos Composite Crankers. For the price they are amazing. The 7' will throw everything from a 1.0 to a 5xd

Absolutely put your hands on Abu Garcia Veritas Winch cranking rod, I love mine so much, I can't imagine throwing bigger cranks without it, and it has found use with several other baits as well (as you touched on already)

Well damn, I've flat out never heard that... to each their own I suppose. What experience have you had with Abu's that you didn't like? A specific line or model or what happened?

hmmm

Just seem like holding a wet heavy pool noodle to me lol. Don't like aluminum reel seat hoods either. And prefer graphite reel seats apposed to skeleton ones.

I like the Powell Inferno 6104CB for square bills and the 705CB for medium to deep diving crank baits. You can also purchase the new Powell Max 3Ds for $150 shipped. They are extremely light rods.

Why do you need a special crank bait rod for throwing 1.5? I can see it for the big deep ones that you need to throw a mile, but the 1.5's, for me, are for around shallow cover, and anything of the right length with a fairly soft action will do it for me. Please explain.
