Not necessarily a catfish thread, but I was tossing for shad and got to wondering. What's the biggest fish y'all have landed in your cast nets? I got a 4 pound cat the other day which is my biggest. I think that's simply because he spun in the net and got tangled. Also causing me to have to buy a new net.

About one six inch gizzard frown. And a snake.

Four 20-30lb. buffalo. Wrecked a perfectly good castnet.

I never got whatever I caught up and I've caught the same dang whatever it is in several different lakes and creeks and it always ends up with me losing, ripping, tearing, or just throwing the net in the water. All I know is it wouldn't budge when I pulled on it.

I once had a whole net cram full of gar when I was trying to catch some shiners on the St. Johns river.

Biggest single fish was a pretty big carp. Didn't have a scale or anything.

I didn't land it but I threw my net right on top of a giant alligator gar one time. The net got wrapped up in his teeth when he was doin the death roll thing. I was in my dad's ranger bass boat and compared with the boat I would guess that fish was every bit of 6-7 ft and easily 100-150 lbs. It was a monster.

He eventually ripped my net apart and got free. I was kind of in a panic mode and just tried to drag him on board. Should have gotten a rope around him but o well.
