I know the creek has lots of crappie especially during the spawn, but they can't get any farther than the dam and shoots by harry moss park. I have access to the creek where it is dammed again much farther upstream at Prestonwood Country Club and other areas too. Are there crappie in the upper parts of the creek anywhere from Plano/Frisco to Dallas/Addison? It seems like there should be with the deeper water and timber.

There's a 20 foot damn at Royal Oaks country club at Royal oaks and Greenville. . I've never caught a limit anywhere close to there. But they cannot get over that dam. Fishing upstream of that will mainly only produce black bass, bluegills, and catfish.

the reconstruction of Northwest Highway, they made the creek bed 2 to 3 feet deep. I do not think the fish are going over that in mass numbers anymore. The last two years has been horrible. With the drought, more and more people have invaded the creek in the winter seeing as how that is one of the only creeks that holds fish in the winter because the lake is usually never low. Along with the poaching of undersize fish And gill nets strung across the creek.

Now all the creeks and DFW have water, so the winter Crappie fishing should be excellent where ever u go.

I'm more referencing a permanent resident population. I know during the spawn the crappie from the lake don't get anywhere close to there. Curious if there are resident crappie in WRC say, near legacy pond? Glen Eagles Golf Course? Near Preston Rd? Etc.

No. Very good bass fishing though. I think I have caught 10 Crappie in my entire life where you're talking about. And where you're talking about is where I grew up. Every once in a while people throw their catch in the creeks and you'll catch an odd fish such as a hybrid Striper which I have caught in White rock Creek near Glen Eagles. When fishing Creek's, when fishing creeks, I find the closest natural dam or man made dam closest to the lake and I start there and work my way back to the lake until I find a population worth fishing for.

I fished white Rock Creek last year and it was alright not as good as other years. Tons of people for sure. I wonder what Rowlett creek will be this year since the lake is full again. Anyone have any luck there years before??

Carey, you are the man, but i think there will be a decent migration of crappie up the creek this winter. Just got that grinding deep in my bones they gonna show this yr. As far as WRC way up north where you guys are talking about, it's mostly black bass, bluegills and cats. Harry Moss park used to have some bodacious sand bass runs up from wrc, but in the last few years, the run has been, shall we say, not all that great. Hopefully this year it turns back into the positive direction. They do go in cycles, ya know.
