My fuel gauge has went out on my 2001 mercury 225 efi. Looking for info on how to figure out if its the gauge or the float in the tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would check the wiring from the tank to the gauge, and check the connections at the gauge, if they are corroded clean them. Check to make sure the ground is good.
If you have an ohm meter check the reading at the sender, I think it should read from 30-240 ohms.
It ain't easy making it look easy.

Ground the pink sender wire with key on. Gauge should go all full if it is good. This is indicating the sender is bad. If the gauge does not go all full knowing their is voltage at the sender, the gauge is bad or you have a bad connection at the gauge.
