Picking up a Nitro Z7 tomorrow and will spend the weekend getting it ready for a maiden voyage Monday. Plan on doing most of my time on Conroe during the week and will probably primarily launch from Stow Away as I'll be solo most of the time. I'm really a beginner as this is my first boat and am looking forward to some relaxing times on the water. I don't really see any tournaments in my future as I'm just not that type and I don't have a fishing buddy just yet. I can't wait for brisk fall mornings and hopefully my dad will enjoy some quality time with me on the lakes.
I'm sure I'll have a million questions to come as I learn to become a better fisherman so go gentle on the newbie!

Congratulations on your boat and just remember to take time and really learn your boat operation and such because that will save you a lot of time in the future. You'll love yourself for that. Enjoy your toy and have fun and you will have some fond memories.

That's a really nice first boat...heck, it's just a really nice boat.

Have you spent much time on boats? If not, and not familiar with taking a boat out by yourself, do yourself a huge favor and get someone who is to go with you and watch over everything a few times.

New? Don't forget to install your bilge plug nice and tight every trip! I forgot that one time fishing with Rudy Lackey. Nearly ruined our day. Good idea to have a little checklist and go through it every trip.

THanks for all the advice guys. I've been around boats almost my entire life but have never owned my own. Yes there will be many educational opportunities to come along but I'm ready. My biggest issue is I haven't been on Conroe for about 30 years - my parents moved to Livingston so that's been about it. I live so close to Conroe I could almost go daily.
Yeah it's a nice first boat - maybe overly so but when I started shopping and had my budget in mind this is what fit the bill. Just couldn't justify another one as this one checked off all my wants and needs. Z7 with 150hp four stroke mercury- hope to see some of you out on Conroe Monday morning.
