KATS out of Austin will have one near the DFW area in September (Lake Athens).

The KATS site has the next tournament as a wild card on 09/26. Maybe Lake Athens? http://fishkats.com/2015-tournament-series/2015-tournament-schedule/Capital City has a couple of upcoming events close by, Oct 17th at Lake Arlington and November 7th at Lake Fork. I have fished a couple of the KATS events and they are very well run. The only down side was going south to fish them.

I have fished KATS for years. This year is the first time I fished Capital City Tournament trail. I will stick with this trail its only going to get better. I'm really impressed with Capital City. Huge payouts usually over $1,000 per event plus they always run very smooth. They had a huge Rookie of the Year payout for the first time competitors. Which I believe they will have again this coming season. I can't imagine the type of payout this trail can have if more people join in. 2016 tournament trail http://capitalcitykayakfishing.com/2016_Trail_Schedule.html

I have not fished any trails other than CCKF or KATS...so I can't comment on any trails up north or out east.
Both CCKF and KATS are great trails and a lot of people fish both trails. CCKF has a higher entry fee and draws less entries on average and KATS has a lower entry fee and draws more entries on average...with a few tournaments in 2015 with over 125 entries. KATS also has two divisions...pro and social. The entry fee for the social division is even lower than in KATS pro division and is geared to the tournament novice.
You really can't go wrong with either trail as both are well run...so look at the 2016 schedules on the respective websites and see which lakes you want to fish and how much you want to pay for your entry fee and pick a trail...or fish them both to see which you like best.
